Orthopedic surgery deals with surgical procedures that treat musculoskeletal injuries that may have resulted due to trauma, degenerative diseases, tumors, infections, spine diseases or sports injuries. Orthopedics, or non-surgical procedures, may also be involved when the injury can be treated without a surgery. The diagnosis is usually done by an X-ray, followed by a surgery or a therapeutic exercise regime to bring back the musculoskeletal injury to health. Orthopedic consultants are usually specialized in particular a particular category of the musculoskeletal injury. Depending on the type of injury, the patient is assigned the right type of orthopedic consultant accordingly.
